MIDLAND — John Moolenar won the Republican nomination for Michigan’s 36th State Senate district Tuesday night. After the polls closed, John Moolenaar issued the following statement:

“First, I must thank all those who have supported my campaign. The efforts of those who have volunteered their time walking in parades, going door-to-door, stuffing envelopes and attending events have been invaluable. Thank you to those who have written letters, displayed yard signs and contributed financially. John Moolenaar Endorsed by MI Townships Association

LANSING - The Michigan Townships Association Political Action Committee (MTA-PAC) announced its endorsement of John Moolenaar for State Senator in the 36th District.MTA-PAC's endorsement was based primarily on Moolenaar's responsiveness to township issues in the Michigan Legislature and input from township officials in the 36th Senate District.

MIDLAND - The Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM) and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) have endorsed John Moolenaar for Michigan's 36th District State Senate seat. Scrapped Clean Coal Plant a Major Blow to Northeast Michigan Economy

ROGERS CITY - State Senate candidate John Moolenaar voiced his strong opposition to the decision made by Governor Granholm and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, denying Wolverine Power Cooperative an air quality permit to build a new, state-of-the-art, clean coal plant in Rogers City in Presque Isle County.


“I’m very disappointed to hear of the Governor’s decision to deny Wolverine Power the permit they needed to bring thousands of jobs to the area. This is yet another example of state government getting in the way of jobs for Northeast Michigan,” Moolenaar stated.

John Moolenaar Announces Candidacy for State Senate

MIDLAND - Today, John Moolenaar formally announced he will seek the Republican nomination to represent Michigan’s 36th State Senate district. The 36th district includes Alcona, Alpena, Crawford, Gladwin, Iosco, Midland, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, and Otsego counties. His announcement is part of two day, ten county tour across Northern Michigan.


“We must promote job growth in areas of economic opportunity. We must stop spending money we don’t have on projects we don’t need, and we must get government out of the way of Michigan job providers and families,” said Moolenaar.
